Position Summary:

Stash Ventures LLC is looking for a diligent staff accountant to join our accounting department. The staff accountant's responsibilities include maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with budget and close processes, conducting internal audits, and maintaining accounts payable documentation. You will also be assisting our controller as needed and respond to information requests by leadership.

To be successful as a staff accountant, you should be able to accurately maintain a general ledger and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). An outstanding staff accountant should also have excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

This is a hybrid position with primary work locations in Mount Pleasant, MI or Southfield, MI. Following the successful completion of a probationary period, this role may also be eligible for remote work consideration.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing basic accounting procedures including accounts receivable and accounts payable, general ledger review and maintenance
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and reconciling general ledger accounts and banking transactions in conjunction with preparing monthly reports for management
  • Maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.
  • Preparing journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assisting with monthly close processes.
  • Contributing to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections.
  • Voucher entry – ensuring invoices are accurate and per purchasing documents
  • Maintaining documentation for accounts payable, purchasing, and treasury and conducting internal audits.
  • Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Meeting processing and reporting deadlines.
  • Responding to information requests, reviewing financial statements, and assisting with audits.
  • Ensuring compliance with GAAP.
  • Managing weekly checks/ACH's and recording all checks/ACH's into accounting software programs
  • Assist with preparation for annual audits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Associate degree in accounting or related field required, bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or Business-related field preferred or 5+ years of accounting experience is equivalent.
  • Two years of general accounting experience required.
  • Strong computer aptitude, including proficiencies in Microsoft Excel and Word are required.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial data.
  • Working knowledge of Business Central accounting software is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detailed oriented a must.
